Tractive subscriptions: read the upfront bill

Compare Tractive's US prepaid plan amounts, monthly billing limits, per-tracker subscriptions, Family Sharing and cancellation before you choose a plan.

Tractive’s advertised monthly price can mean paying for years at once. The US plans page’s $6 per month offer starts at $360 paid upfront for five years, separate from the tracker. Before choosing the lowest monthly average, compare the full payment and how long you’re committing. US plans and billing.

Count trackers separately from people, too. Two pets tracked at the same time need two trackers and two subscriptions. Two people viewing one tracker through Premium’s Family Sharing do not need two paid plans. Multiple pets, Family Sharing.

We checked Tractive’s US pricing and published support information on October 18, 2026. This is a billing guide, not a hands-on tracker review or a comparison of tracking performance.

The payment behind the monthly average

These are the starting-from US-dollar subscription offers shown on Tractive’s plans page when we checked. They exclude the tracker purchase. Tractive says pricing can vary by location; confirm your selected plan, any Tractive Care charge and the final total before paying.

Prepaid term Advertised monthly average Subscription payment at the start
One year From $12 From $144 for 12 months
Two years From $8.50 From $204 for 24 months
Five years From $6 From $360 for 60 months

The five-year offer has the lowest monthly average of these three, but the largest initial payment. That does not make it the right choice if you only want to try the service for a short time.

Monthly billing depends on the plan and country

Tractive says Premium has no monthly payment option: its billing periods are one, two or five years. Monthly Basic plans exist in selected countries, but both Basic availability and monthly billing depend on where you live. Don’t assume a monthly plan described in an overseas guide will appear in your US activation options. Monthly payment rules.

One subscription per tracker, not per viewer

If you want to track a dog and a cat simultaneously, budget for a plan for each tracker. You can manage both in one Tractive account, but that does not combine their subscription bills. At the one-year starting figure above, two plans would be 2 × $144 = $288 upfront for the year, before buying either tracker or adding any other charges. Tractive’s multiple-pet rule.

Family Sharing answers a different question: who can view one pet’s tracker? With the owner’s Premium subscription, an invited household member or sitter needs the app and a free Tractive account, not another paid subscription. Use that distinction when making your shopping list: more viewers aren’t more trackers. Family Sharing requirements.

Canceling stops renewal, not the prepaid commitment

Tractive advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. Its cancellation guide says that after the initial 30 days, prepaid plans aren’t refundable. Canceling partway through stops automatic renewal; the plan stays active until the paid period ends. A five-year payment therefore isn’t a month-to-month plan you can leave later for a refund of unused years. Cancellation and refunds.

To stop renewal, Tractive directs you to its web account: Trackers & Subscription Plans → your tracker → Subscription Plan → Cancel Subscription Plan. A paused subscription must be resumed before cancellation. Check the account afterward and keep the confirmation with your renewal note. Cancellation steps.

Put the actual payment in your budget

Our pet budget planner estimates cash spending for a year. For an annual subscription, enter the whole annual bill using its yearly option. For a prepaid two- or five-year plan bought this year, enter the whole payment as a one-time expense and note the covered period separately. Enter tracker hardware as another one-time purchase.

That is our suggested budgeting method. Don’t enter the prepaid bill and its monthly average as two expenses: you would count the same subscription twice. The budget guide explains how the planner turns your entries into monthly and annual totals.

Before paying, save the selected plan’s full charge, number of trackers, covered period and renewal date. Those details will be more useful when the next bill arrives than the advertised monthly average alone.
